AS Iou – Panionios: An important beginning for our children and the future of our academy

AS Iou Athletic Club was delighted to welcome Vangelis Spanos, Technical Director of the Panionios Football Schools Network, to our island for the first visit in the partnership between the two clubs. His presence at our ground gave the children an opportunity to meet the Technical Director of the historic club’s Football Schools Network, train under his guidance and take part in player evaluation. It was a meaningful meeting that offered our young athletes new experiences and extra motivation. Vangelis Spanos worked alongside the children, observing their efforts and offering instructions on the pitch. The visit also provided an opportunity to communicate with our academy coaches, with sound football education and each player's progress as their shared focus. For us, the partnership with Panionios serves a clear purpose: to give the children of Ios opportunities to learn, improve and develop their abilities in their own community. We want them to gain experiences that build confidence and encourage them to keep trying with greater enthusiasm and self-belief. We know that development takes time, patience and daily work. Every child progresses at their own pace and deserves attention, encouragement and respect. The value of a meeting like this lies both in the sporting experience and in the inspiration it offers for the future. We want our academy to be a place where athletes learn to cooperate, show respect, handle challenges and enjoy making an effort. A place that parents can trust and where children feel they belong to a team that supports them. We warmly thank the board and staff of Panionios for their trust and practical support in arranging the visit of the Technical Director of their Football Schools Network to Ios. Connecting with a club of such history is both an honour and a responsibility for us, as we work to make this partnership meaningful for our academy. We are pleased that this first meeting took place where children's relationship with football grows every day: on the pitch. They give purpose to every initiative and are the reason we keep working for more and better opportunities. This first visit is a wonderful beginning.
